SR Space Company is set to launch Russia’s very first private carrier rocket, named «Sky,» this fall after years of development. The «Sky» rocket is designed to carry diverse payloads such as scientific equipment, astronaut crews, and satellites and can be launched from multiple sites such as the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Yasny Cosmodrome, and Kapustin Yar Range. With a maximum payload capacity of up to 800 kilograms to low Earth orbit, the rocket is expected to travel beyond Earth’s atmosphere to the Karman line, which is a landmark for private Russian rocket companies.
Sergei Romanov, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at SR Space Company, couldn’t contain his excitement for the upcoming launch of «Sky» and its potential contribution to the Russian space industry’s future. «The successful launch of our rocket will allow us to compete on a global scale and contribute to the development of space exploration,» Romanov commented.
The development of the «Sky» rocket was not without challenges, but Romanov and his team at SR Space remain confident in its ability to perform. «We have faced numerous setbacks as any space company does, but we have persevered and believe that ‘Sky’ will be a reliable and efficient launch vehicle,» Romanov added.
The Russian space industry has been looking into the potential of private space companies as a means of expanding its presence in space. The launch of the «Sky» rocket will significantly help them establish a new platform and bring vital opportunities for future innovation and partnerships. It’s a milestone for the Russian aerospace industry and a significant step in establishing private space companies in Russia.
